General Statement of Duties
Under the guidance of the classroom teacher, the Instructional Assistant provides essential support with the implementation of the instructional program.
- Provides one on one instruction or tutoring with students
- Provides behavioral support to students
- Assists with classroom management and behavior modification
- Assists with field trips, community-based instruction, and other activities
- Assists students with personal care tasks,
- Assists with creation, organization, and distribution of instructional materials
- Reports student concerns directly and promptly to the teacher and assists with student resolution
- Assists with breakfast, lunch and snack, including clean-up
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Regular attendance is required
This position works 10 months, 204 days per year, 7.25 hours per day. Annual salary will be prorated based upon the actual work begin date.

Minimum Requirements
General knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques used in classrooms; ability to maintain records and confidentiality; ability to operate audio visual, standard office and computer equipment; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, students and administrators. Must be able to follow oral and written directions, maintain order within a classroom independent of the teacher, and possess a working knowledge of computers.
Instructional Assistants in Non-Title I schools must be at least 18 years old and hold a high school diploma or equivalent. Passing scores on the ParaPro Assessment or have a minimum of 42 semester hours of college credit are preferred.
