General Statement of Duties
Performs repetitive manual work requiring efficient performance of building cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Strips, seals, waxes, and buffs floors
• Scrubs and rinses floors in assigned area
• Damp mops a variety of rooms (i.e., auditorium, library, halls, stairs, cafeteria, kitchens, locker rooms and mechanical equipment rooms)
• Dusts a variety of rooms (i.e., auditorium, stage, library, halls, gym floors, and cafeteria)
• Sweeps shops, stairs and entrance areas, locker room, bleachers, sidewalks, halls
• Cleans and scrubs restrooms completely
• Dusts rooms, offices, furniture and cupboards, and removes cobwebs
• Empties and washes garbage cans
• Attends work daily and be engaged and on task
• Performs overtime work on a scheduled, unscheduled, routine or emergency basis, as assigned
• Performs other duties as assigned
This vacancy is open until filled. This is a 12 month, 8 hours per day, 260 day custodial position at Glen Allen HS for the 26-27SY starting on 7/1/26. Minimum salary is 38,499.97 ($18.51 hourly) or based on promotion policy for internal candidates. Salary is prorated based on start date.

Minimum Requirements
Grade school completion. Knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment; ability to use cleaning supplies and equipment economically, efficiently, and safely; ability to follow simple oral and written directions. Good physical condition required. Ability to work at high altitudes using scaffolds, ladders, etc.
Physical requirements: lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; walking; pushing/pulling; climbing; stooping; kneeling; bending; standing; flexibility with lower and upper body; smelling; touching; talking; stamina; hearing
Work environment may include: Noise; fumes; grease; dirt/dust; inside/outside; working alone and with others; confined areas; chemicals; repetition; hazards
