General Statement of Duties
Under the guidance of the classroom teacher, the Instructional Assistant (IA) provides essential support to ESL (English as a Second Language) students or English language learners (ELLs) in the implementation of instructional programs.
- Provides one on one instruction or tutoring with students
- Provides behavioral support to students
- Assists with classroom management and behavior modification
- Assists with field trips, community-based instruction, and other activities
- Assists students with personal care tasks,
- Assists with creation, organization, and distribution of instructional materials
- Reports student concerns directly and promptly to the teacher and assists with student resolution
- Assists with breakfast, lunch and snack, including clean-up
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Regular attendance is required
- This is a 10-month (204-day) position with a contractual start date of August 14, 2026.

Minimum Requirements
Instructional Assistants (IAs) in Non-Title I schools must be at least 18 years old and hold a high school diploma or equivalent. Passing scores on the ParaPro Assessment or have a minimum of 42 semester hours of college credit are preferred.
General knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques used in classrooms; ability to maintain records and confidentiality; ability to operate audio visual, standard office and computer equipment; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, students and administrators. Must be able to follow oral and written directions, maintain order within a classroom independent of the teacher, and possess a working knowledge of computers.
