General Statement of Duties
This position provides the technical support to an assigned secondary or elementary school to ensure a properly functioning computing environment. The incumbent maintains the existing computer environment and performs initial troubleshooting tasks. Acts as the first point of contact for all technology needs and requirements. Also provides on-site computer support to faculty, students and staff of school(s) to which the successful candidate will be assigned. Works under the direction of the Technology Support Leader to assist in ensuring a properly functioning computing environment. This is an 11-month/239 day position.
• Oversees and coordinates the repair of computers and peripherals which may also include printers/copiers, projectors, smart boards or other school based technology hardware
• Acts as the network administrator for the assigned school
• Effectively communicates with staff and administration in a professional and competent manner
• Troubleshoots hardware and software issues
• Installs application software
• Performs diagnostic repair procedures on student and teacher computers
• Configures Internet browsers, commercially available software and custom designed software owned by HCPS
• Engages in preventative measure such as identifying computer viruses
• Works as a key member of the technology team
• Assists students and staff in the use of application software
• Demonstrates exceptional customer support
• Demonstrates exceptional job knowledge
• Performs other duties as assigned
This is an 11-month/239 day position. Annual salary will be prorated based upon actual work begin date.

Minimum Requirements
Excellent technical and customer service skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Minimum one (1) year experience in installing, upgrading, troubleshooting and maintaining software. Experience with Windows or Apple platform highly preferred. Ability to lift 50 pounds and climb a ladder is also required. Must possess a valid Virginia driver's license/transportation as some travel is required potentially between HCPS school(s), Central Office and Technology office locations.
