General Statement of Duties
Performs scheduled reviews of school facilities and on-site maintenance staff to ensure the proper implementation of maintenance and repairs. May supervise and direct maintenance personnel as assigned.
Observes and reports on conditions at school facilities; works with maintenance staff to verify corrective actions as required.
Reviews and reports on the implementation of the preventative maintenance plan.
Reads plans and specifications.
Knowledge of the operating, maintenance and repair functions required in a school facility.
Trains maintenance staff in standard maintenance and repair techniques.
Solves problems which arise with maintenance staff.
Understands and utilizes computer systems as they relate to the various functions of the department.
Self-auditing practices and supervision of employees in safety awareness and standard procedures.
Works with School Safety Coordinator in required local, state, and federal reporting including AHERA plans.
Assists in testing of facilities as required.
Performs after-hours work as required (scheduled and unscheduled).
Performs other duties as assigned.
Regular attendance is required.
This vacancy is open until filled. This is a 12 month, 8 hours per day, 260-day position. Minimum salary is 58,711.31 (28.23 hourly) or based on promotion policy for internal candidates
Annual salary will be prorated based upon actual work begin date.

Minimum Requirements
Graduation from high school and five years' experience in construction operation and maintenance or equivalent experience. Extensive knowledge of procedures, practices, techniques and tools used in the operation and maintenance of large facilities. Must be able to initiate and coordinate maintenance of school facilities based on standards and codes set by the trade, county or state. Good physical condition required. Must possess a valid Virginia drivers' license.
