General Statement of Duties
Performs supervisory and/or highly responsible technical bookkeeping work in connection with the financial operation of a department; does related work as required.
This position serves as the payroll clerk for the department. The payroll clerk is responsible for knowing and understanding timekeeping and leave policies for the department and County and be able to explain those policies to other employees. This role facilitates the submission of all timecards with the help of HR. When payroll has been completed, the timecard data is extracted, reviewed, and compiled to bill various other agencies. This position also serves as an administrator of the timekeeping system to update employee schedules related to internal transfers. Other duties include tasks such as verifying changes in pay rate, pay corrections, and clothing allowances. The successful candidate will have good communication skills; ability to extract, manipulate, and report data using Excel; excellent organization skills and record keeping skills.

The expected hiring salary range for this position is $44,314.67 - $52,217.47, based upon the successful candidate's experience and qualifications.
A criminal history record check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or GED; coursework in bookkeeping or business preferred, and four (4) years of clerical or bookkeeping experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
