General Statement of Duties

The employee in this classification provides instruction to students in Henrico County Public Schools.  This is for the 2026-27 school year. 

Essential Duties
  • Follows lesson plans submitted by the regular classroom teacher
  • Ensures classroom management
  • Serves appropriate duty assignments
  • Leaves appropriate documentation for the teacher
  • Regular Attendance is required
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the school

$144.38/day Classroom Teacher ($169.50 on FRIDAY)

$121.96/ Instructional Assistant

Minimum Requirements

Substitute Teacher:

Have at least 60 credit hours OR two years of work experience with children

Have completed the CWSE 5691 - Recognizing & Reporting Child Abuse & Neglect (For Educators) Training


Substitute Office Instructional Assistant:

Have a High School Diploma/GED

Have completed the CWSE 5691 - Recognizing & Reporting Child Abuse & Neglect (For Educators) Training


 All Substitute Positions require the completion certificate for the CWSE 5691 - Recognizing & Reporting Child Abuse & Neglect (For Educators) Training.

Background Check Disclosure

Applicants considered for employment must successfully complete the following background investigations/tests:

  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal History Investigation
  • State Police Criminal History Investigation
  • Child Protective Services (CPS) Investigation
  • Tuberculosis Screening/Test
