General Statement of Duties
Performs technical paraprofessional work in the Permit Centers related to compliance with State and Local property development regulations and construction codes; does related work as required.
Basic knowledge of the principles and practices of planning; knowledge of all types of building and utility construction practices and methods; ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications; knowledge of County building, utility, State codes, and planning ordinances; ability to perform basic engineering work of average complexity; ability to review basic design plans and basic engineering specifications; ability to work effectively with and to develop good public relations with engineers, architects, and the public.
This position may be filled at the Community Development Technician I or II level depending on the qualifications of the successful candidate.
Hiring Range:
Community Development Technician I = $43,023.95 - $46,158.73
Community Development Technician II = $49, 521.91 - $53,130.04
May require a pre-employment physical examination and/or medical tests administered by Henrico County Employee Health Services, the components of which are based on and appropriate to the specific sensory and/or physical demands of the given position.
May require possession of a valid Virginia Commercial driver's license, with endorsements and without restrictions.

A criminal history record check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee.
Minimum Requirements
Community Development Tech II: Possession of a two (2) year associates degree in a related engineering or planning discipline; and three (3) years of related paraprofessional engineering experience OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Community Development Tech I: Possession of a high school diploma and working towards a two (2) year associates degree in a related engineering or planning discipline; and one (1) year of related paraprofessional engineering experience OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
