General Statement of Duties
Establishes and maintains a continuous line of communications with all schools and Facilities management on all matters related to equipment operations, project scheduling and progress, emergency calls requiring outside utility assistance. Assigns work to foreman, pointing out unusual conditions or difficulties that may be experience and insuring that sufficient materials are on hand. Reviews equipment inventory with foreman to verify that proper equipment, tools, materials, etc. are on hand for emergency service calls. Oversees problem troubleshooting with mechanical equipment on computer/building automation system equipment. Performs overtime and other duties as required.
Maintains records of work projects and equipment inventory
- Reviews timesheets and potential /actual overtime
- Provides general supervision to the work that is to be performed by the crews assigned
- Develops specifications for jobs, estimates material needs, and orders materials
- Evaluates work of employees
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and assist in correcting problems in facilities on a routine and emergency basis
- Assists the Facility Manager and Facilities Engineer in diagnosing equipment operation problems during work hours, evening hours as required, and weekends/holidays as required
- Maintains list of emergency on-call mechanics for various trades and emergency contact numbers for equipment manufacturers and supply houses
- Surveys schools and gathers information on all major mechanical equipment (chillers, boilers, main panels, etc) as to name, locations, etc.
- Reviews budgetary requirements for building systems and assists in planning for future work
- Self auditing practices and supervision of employees in safety awareness and procedures
- Attend work daily and be engaged and on task - regular attendance is required
- Performs other duties as assigned
This vacancy is open until filled and is available for the 26-27SY. This is a 12 month, 8 hours per day, 260 day position. Minimum salary is $64,483.22 ($31.00 hourly) or based on promotion policy for internal candidates. Salary is prorated based on official start date. Work hours are 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This position is exempt but may require hours outside the normal work hours as well as on call/emergency hours and duties.

Minimum Requirements
Graduation from high school. Five (5) years experience in maintenance and operation of mechanical, plumbing, electrical, temperature control, energy management systems, and supervision of personnel serving multiple facilities desirable. Strong knowledge of building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and sprinkler codes. Ability to manage and coordinate mechanically related alterations, modifications, maintenance, and repairs to school facilities.
