Lead the division-level School Mental Health team in meeting all goals and objectives in alignment with the division’s strategic plan and organizing efforts across schools to ensure consistent standards of support are met district-wide.

Promote and support all aspects of the HCPS Comprehensive School Mental Health Model (Henrico CARES) to assist in improving access and availability of evidence-based behavioral health promotion and prevention, early identification and intervention, and intensive intervention and support to meet the needs of children, youth, and families within the school community.

Plan for, implement, and sustain programming that promotes mental health and wellness among school administrators and staff utilizing best practices to support professional resilience, secondary trauma prevention, resiliency, self-care/self-compassion, efficacy/confidence building, and mental/physical health.

Maintain and update the HCPS Mental Health Crisis Response plan in alignment with the National Association of School Psychologist’s (NASP) PREPaRE Model. Work closely with the Emergency Manager to coordinate and serve on division-level mental health crisis response team and contribute regularly to school-based critical incident responses to assist school communities with planning, resources, and grief/loss support.

Build and sustain relationships with community mental health providers and agencies, including Henrico Area Mental Health & Developmental Services.

Coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate targeted professional learning opportunities related to Tier II and III mental and behavioral health and wellness and trauma-informed practices for school mental health professionals.

Develop a plan to sustain and scale high-quality, standards aligned professional learning opportunities that meet the unique needs of HCPS schools related to Tier I mental health and wellness and trauma-informed practices.

Review the HCPS Suicide Prevention Guidelines, make revisions as necessary, and coordinate annual training for identified HCPS employee groups. Implement suicide prevention programs (i.e., Signs of Suicide), including training, consultation, and data collection/analysis.

Provide clinical supervision and oversight to school mental health professionals employed by HCPS.  

Support the coordination of mental health services at The Oak Avenue Complex’s full-service community service hub in collaboration with the Department of Family & Community Engagement and partner community agencies.. 

Provide oversight and strategic direction for district-wide substance use prevention and intervention initiatives, ensuring alignment with best practices and integration within the broader school-based mental health framework 

Serve on the Division Threat Assessment Team (DTAT) and the Family Assessment & Planning Team (FAPT) on a rotating basis.

 Collaborate with Communications to regularly promote mental health & wellness efforts and information to the HCPS school community.

 Participate in division, state, and national professional development activities as appropriate and incorporate learning into professional practice.

 Perform other duties as required.

Anticipated Start Date – TBD

Minimum annualized salary - $99,289.67 (The salary for this position will be prorated based upon the official start date).

Required: Master's degree or Ed.S in School Counseling, School Psychology, or School Social Work and Virginia Board of Education Pupil Personnel Services License with an Endorsement in School Counseling, School Psychology, or School Social Work with at least three (3) years of experience working in the field. Additional licensure through the Virginia Board of Health Professions in the areas of Counseling (LPC, LMFT) and/or Social Work (LCSW). 

Preferred: Approved Supervisor by the VA Board of Counseling (LPC-S, LMFT-S) or the VA Board of Social Work (LCSW-S). Additional endorsement in Administration and Supervision prek-12.
