General Statement of Duties
Performs a variety of specialized technical, administrative and customer service support functions related to the determination of eligibility of economically disadvantaged individuals and families for various federal, state and local public assistance and benefits programs; assists applicants with the preparation of forms; collects, verifies, enters, maintains and manages the data related to eligibility determinations; does related work as required.
The person in this position must possess strong skills in customer service skills, effective and engaging communication and efficient time management to complete the following essential duties:
- Answer the department’s switchboard, answering questions for callers and routing their calls to the appropriate point of contact
- Interact with visitors to our office, answering case-related questions and exchanging case-related documentation, labeling documents and routing them to the electronic case record
- Process mail, email and scanned documents, labeling documents and routing them to the electronic case record
- Review benefit applications received in person and via email
- Explain benefits policies to clients and assist applicants in completing required paperwork
- Enter data in multiple local and state databases and regularly utilize Microsoft Suite such as Teams, Outlook and Excel.
- Issue SNAP EBT cards, maintain daily and monthly EBT card inventory logs
- Perform other administrative support functions as required
- Participate in emergency-related activities such as DSNAP issuance and emergency shelter operations, as needed.
The expected hiring range for this position will be between $43,023 - $47,253, commensurate with the successful candidate's qualifications and experience.
A criminal history record check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee.
May require a valid driver's license to perform assigned duties at various locations.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or GED, completion of relevant college coursework or degree preferred, and three (3) years of relevant administrative work, including customer service experience. Previous experience in human services or related field preferred; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
