General Statement of Duties
Performs routine custodial work which involves assigning and inspecting the work of employees involved in building and grounds maintenance; performs a variety of routine building cleaning tasks requiring heavy manual work. Work is reviewed in progress and upon completion by a supervisor
- Schedules employees so that adequate coverage is provided not only for normal operating hours but for special events, meetings and classes
- Opens and?or closes the facility, deactivates/sets the alarm system and checks to ensure that the facility is secure after closing and activates
the alarm system
- Recommends termination of services of unsatisfactory custodial workers
- Returns to facility after hours when called to clean up after vandalism or other emergency
- Requests appliances, equipment and cleaning materials orally or in writing
- Observes work performance of subordinates and provides additional help as needed
- Ensures adequate supply of heating oil is maintained
- Reports any defects in performance of boiler and furnaces
- Performs minor repairs to furniture and fixtures
- Must be able to operate custodial equipment (buffers, vacuums, etc.)
- Performs routine custodial tasks (equipment operating, lifting, climbing)
- Attends work daily and be engaged and on task - Regular attendance is required
- Performs other duties as assigned
This vacancy is open until filled. This is a 12 month, 8 hours per day, 260 day position working at Colonial Trail Elementary School for the 26-27SY beginning 7/1/26. Minimum salary is $44,314.67 ($21.31 hourly) or based on promotion policy for internal candidates. Salary is prorated based on start date.

Minimum Requirements
Completion of grade school and one year of building cleaning experience in a school, public building or business. Knowledge of equipment and cleaning compounds; some knowledge of the operation of a heating system in facility to which assigned; ability to keep records and make reports; ability to effectively supervise custodial workers. Good physical condition required; ability to work at high altitudes using scaffold, ladders, etc.
Physical requirements: lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; walking; pushing/pulling; climbing; stooping; kneeling; bending; standing; flexibility with lower and upper body; smelling; touching; talking; stamina; hearing
Work environment may include: Noise; fumes; grease; dirt/dust; inside/outside; working alone and with others; confined areas; chemicals; repetition; hazards
