General Statement of Duties
Serves as a behavior coach for teachers, providing direct student support to promote student success in the least restrictive setting while positively reshaping student behaviors.
- Assist in the development, facilitation, and follow-up training in Applied Behavior Analysis, using both discrete trial training and natural environment training models of teaching.
- Facilitate and assist in the development and identification of resources and support information for students and school staff
- Provide coaching and guidance to staff on the implementation of behavior strategies for the classroom or other instructional settings.
- Assist in the development and implementation of assessment tools, to conduct functional assessments and analyses when appropriate, and to develop appropriate behavior strategies to teach appropriate behavior and reduce maladaptive behaviors.
- Ongoing training and supervision of paraprofessional staff in implementation of ABA principles and methodology and behavior reduction strategies.
- Create an ongoing data collection system to establish baseline and programmatic efficacy for students, and to analyze data on a frequent and ongoing basis to guide programming.
- Develop behavior plans/treatment plans for all consumers with a focus on teaching and other antecedent strategies for reducing problematic behavior(s).
- Review and sign off on behavior plan/treatment plan training for all staff and provide field supervision when necessary.
- Provide consultation services and to maintain ongoing communication with all stakeholders.
- Keep current with the literature, new research findings and resources.
- In addition, continuing education courses to maintain BCBA certification are necessary (32 credits every 2 years).
- Maintain all data, paperwork, and communication with school teams
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Regular attendance is required.
This position works 12-months / 260 days per year.
Annual salary will be prorated based upon actual work begin date.

Starting in the 2023-24 school year, Henrico County Public Schools will designate select schools with high rates of vacant positions and provisionally licensed staff as Opportunity Schools. Minimum Requirements
A Master's degree is required. Candidates must hold a current state license as a Behavior Analyst, maintain Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification, and remain in good standing with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. Demonstrates competence in behavior management, instructional skills, oral and written communication, organizational skills and interpersonal relations. Ability to work with students of different ages and abilities, teachers, and other stakeholders with minimal direction. Must have or be willing to be trained in crisis behavior deescalation and restraint. A minimum of 2 years’ experience addressing student behavioral needs is required. Some professional instructional or training experience. Candidates who hold valid out-of-state licensure as a behavior analyst and are eligible for BCBA licensure in Virginia will be considered.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently and 25 to 50 pounds occasionally, and may assist, move, or restrain students when required to intervene in student safety issues. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, lift, walk, stand, and hear.
