General Statement of Duties

Essential Duties
  • Under the guidance of the teacher, this individual will assist in the instructional programming of students.
  •  Provides one on one instruction or tutoring with students.
  • Attends work daily and be engaged, organized and on task.
  •  Provides a positive impact on school culture, climate, and community relations.
  • Greets visitors
  • Deals calmly with students, parents and patrons when they are very upset (either in person or on the phone) and be a good listener
  • Provides Behavioral Supports to students . Assists teaches with escalated students as needed
  • Assists with classroom management and behavior modification. Reports student concerns directly and promptly to the teacher and assists with student resolution.
  • Collaborates with the school nurse to support student health/wellness and serves as clinic backup
  •  Assists with temperature checks, basic first aid (Band-Aids, etc.) as needed
  •  Assists with distribution of student medication
  • Assists with specific data processing tasks (entries, student data, changes, transportation and reports
  •  Completes data processing responsibilities and associated paperwork in a timely manner according to deadlines
  • Operates office equipment and assist teachers with instructional organization tasks
  • Maintains files containing student records, collect student data and assist with data reports.
  •  Assist teachers with instructional needs of students
  •  Assists with School-wide Positive Behavior Incentive Plan
  • Assists with meal distribution to students
  •  Assists with breakfast, lunch and snack, including clean-up.
  •  Assist Admin Coordinator with general operations of the program
  •  Other duties as assigned by the Administrative Coordinator.
  • Attends work daily and be engaged in job responsibilities
  •  Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

Must hold a high school diploma or equivalent. 60 semester hours from an accredited college or university is preferred.

Additionally, Paraprofessional autism certification is required or must be completed within 60-days of hire. This training is provided by HCPS at no cost to the employee.
