Works on specific projects, other staff and trades on various projects.

- Ability to work and to assist other teams in the installation of sewer and water lines and mains, heat pipe, and other building utilities.

- Operates a skidsteer, backhoe, excavator, dump truck, motor grader and other large equipment.

- Works to install/repair asphalt surfaces by hand or with mechanical paving equipment .

- Works to install/repair exterior surface (including cinder tracks, erosion control, etc.).

- Operates a variety of heavy snow removal equipment when needed.

- Services and makes minor repairs to equipment.

- Performs overtime work and other duties as required.

- Attends work daily, engaged and on-task - regular attendance is required

- Self auditing practices in safety awareness and procedures.

- Performs other duties, as assigned.

- This is an essential position which requires the employee to report for work during inclement weather or at varying times for emergencies.

This vacancy is open until filled and is available for the 26-27SY.  This is a 12 month, 8 hours per day, 260 day position.  Minimum salary is $49,143.76 ($23.63 hourly) or based on promotion policy for internal candidates.  Salary is prorated based on official start date.  Work hours are 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of three years experience operating heavy equipment (both on-road and off-road). Valid Commercial Driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia preferred. Knowledge of the standard practices, methods and materials used in street or utility construction and/or maintenance. Good physical condition required; ability to work at high altitudes and in inclement weather.
