General Statement of Duties

Provides skilled professional work in support of department programs, projects, or services. Responsibilities include assisting with planning, evaluation, data analysis, and policy implementation. Work is performed with minimal supervision and may involve coordination with internal staff, clients, or volunteers. Demonstrates initiative and sound judgment in completing assignments.

Essential Duties

The primary responsibility of this position is tracking, researching and responding to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for the Police Division.  These requests are often complex and almost always require coordination among several potential contributors to ensure full compliance with the law and may include but not limited to body worn camera video requests, traffic crash investigative file requests and criminal investigative case file requests. 

  • Knowledge of Freedom of Information Act laws, policies and regulations
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet multiple deadlines
  • Ability to research using a variety of resources
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and analytical skills
  • Ability to work effectively with other employees and with the public
  • Leadership skills.
Additional Information

Criminal justice and/or paralegal education and/or experience is preferred.

Minimum Requirements

Four (4) year degree in a relevant field, and one (1) year of relevant professional experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
