General Statement of Duties
Performs independent clerical and administrative duties in the Circuit Court Clerkâs Office with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality; demonstrates sound understanding of court operations, applicable laws, regulations, and procedures; provides courteous, informed service to a diverse public, defendants, attorneys, and stakeholders; works with minimal supervision and performs other duties as assigned.
- Responds to inquiries regarding active and inactive cases
- Creates and maintains electronic criminal case files in the Case Imaging System (CIS)
- Updates the Circuit Case Management System (CCMS)
- Receipts cash bond payments
- Issue notices, subpoenas, capiases, and summonses to show cause
- Determines the need for obtaining a defendant's fingerprints and/or DNA sample
- Prepares case files for hearings/trials and helps ensure incarcerated defendants are present in court or available by video
- Receives and secures physical evidence introduced in court
- Support Circuit Court Judges during court proceedings
- Prepares continued custody and disposition orders
- Assesses and collects court costs, fines, and restitution
- Drafts court orders for entry by judges
- Finalizes fines, costs, and restitution installment payment agreements
- Drafts restricted licenses
- Prepare case records and transmit them to appellate courts
- Provides reports or information to Community Corrections and Pretrial Services, Department of Corrections, Department of Magistrate Services, Probation and Parole, Department of Motor Vehicles, Department of State Police, Department of Taxation, Henrico County Commonwealth's Attorney, Henrico County District Courts, Henrico County Sheriff's Department, Henrico County Police Department, and Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program

The expected hiring range will be at the lower end of the listed pay scale.

Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or GED; four (4) year degree preferred, and four (4) years of responsible clerical experience, preferably in the Court system or the legal field; or some work experience in the Court system or the legal field with four year degree; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.
