This position provides diagnostic assessments and treatment services to youth aged 4 to 18 years who are experiencing symptoms related to mental health and substance use disorders. This position will be based at Henrico County Public Schools but may have contact with Juvenile Court Services Unit, Social Services, and other youth serving agencies; will receive training in evidence-based practices; will provide individual, family and group therapy; provide treatment planning and case coordination; participate in consultation and education activities with school and community; other work as assigned.

• Conducts client assessments through psychological evaluation, social history, and interviews. 
• Administers and interprets psychological assessments including intelligence and personality tests; prepares related reports. 
• Provides individual, group, family, and couples therapy. 
• Develops written treatment plans and establishes diagnoses. 
• Maintains clinical and administrative records in accordance with agency standards. 
• Conducts collateral contacts with families and community caregivers. 
• Refers clients to appropriate community resources based on treatment plans.  
• Delivers educational presentations and represents the agency at community and professional events. 
• Provides consultation and education services to external organizations. 
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with local agencies and stakeholders. 
• Expands professional knowledge through academic study, independent reading, and participation in conferences and workshops.   
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Considerable knowledge of principles of community mental health and/or developmental disabilities and/or substance abuse; considerable knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts of normal and abnormal human behavior, personality development, family and group dynamics; considerable knowledge of and an ability to apply a variety of psychotherapeutic treatment techniques/modalities; adherence to basic ethics appropriate for a professional helping relationship; knowledge of mental health diagnoses, assessment, and/or psychological and educational testing; some knowledge of consultation program; considerable knowledge of psychosocial history development; very good interviewing and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing; demonstrated ability to act with good judgment.

The salary for this role will be in the lower to mid-range of the listed salary scale.

Strong preference for licensure by the Virginia Board of Health Professionals (LCSW or LPC). Preference for applicants who are bi-lingual.  Valid Virginia driver's license required. TB Screening and Child Protective Services Record Check required, upon hire.  A criminal history record check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee.

Must hold or be qualified to work toward licensure or accreditation for the appropriate discipline.  This position is part of an approved career development plan (CDP) and offers career development opportunities within the position based on the performance, qualifications and experience of the incumbent. Expected salary lower end of listed salary range.

Possession of a two (2)-year master's degree in clinical social work, psychology or a directly related field plus one (1) year of experience in a mental health setting [for a one-year degree, one (1) additional year of experience or an internship is required to replace the second year of formal training]; OR, a bachelor's degree in related field plus four (4) years of experience in a community mental health setting; OR, any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
