General Statement of Duties

Provides screening, counseling, case management, training or other specific treatment or rehabilitation activities as directed; does related work as required.

Essential Duties

This is a school-based position responsible for providing intensive case management support services to youth and their families. 

  • Provides linkage to appropriate levels of care. 
  • Monitors services that are being provided to youth and ensures unmet needs are routinely addressed. 
  • Facilitates group psychotherapy. 
  • Completes mental health and substance use assessments to determine appropriate level of treatment. 
  • Aid caregivers in developing strategies to support their youth in the community.  
  • Knowledge of mental illness and substance use disorders and appropriate clinical interventions. 
  • Knowledge of community agencies and services available.

Knowledge of principles, practices and methods of treatment and/or rehabilitation of individuals with a developmental disability; some knowledge of mental health and/or developmental disabilities and related problems; good interpersonal skills which include the ability to empathize, demonstrate respect, communicate, reflect feelings and confront constructively; ability to relate freely to and work effectively with clients and professionals from all levels of the community; adherence to basic ethics appropriate for any helping relationship; ability to write concisely and coherently; demonstrated ability to use good judgment.

Additional Information

Valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia is required: QMHP certification required; TB Screening and Child Abuse Registry Check required upon hire.

This position is part of an approved career development plan (CDP) and offers career development opportunities within the position based on the performance, qualifications and experience of the incumbent.

Expected salary lower end of listed salary range.

State or Federal Funding Clause
This agreement and the continuation of this position are contingent upon the availability of specific special revenue funds.

Minimum Requirements

Four (4) year degree in behavioral science, and relevant work experience preferred; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
