General Statement of Duties

209-day contract. 

Innovative Learning Coaches (ILC) at HCPS foster a collaborative educational environment where technology enriches learning experiences. Essential Duties
  • Strategic Leadership and Technology Integration: Partner with administrators to align HCPS's strategic goals and teaching frameworks with the division’s technology plan, utilizing data-driven insights to address academic needs and enhance instructional outcomes.
  • Instructional Coaching and Support: Provide coaching and instructional support to teachers, assisting them in the design, delivery, and assessment of innovative and technologically integrated learning experiences.
  • Digital Citizenship and Learner Profile Advocacy: Champion digital citizenship and the Henrico Learner Profile, guiding all community members in safe, ethical, and responsible technology use.
  • Professional Development Leadership: Lead professional development and design supporting resources aligned with the VDOE Educational Technology Plan, fostering a community of continuous technological and pedagogical improvement.
  • Knowledge Dissemination and Resource Sharing: Disseminate information about instructional technology resources, emerging technologies, and best practices to enhance the educational ecosystem. 
  • Digital Resource Advocacy and Modeling: Collaborate with leaders to manage, advocate for, and model responsible technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) integration aligned to the VDOE digital learning and computer science standards.
  • Digital Resource Evaluation and Compliance: Support the process for evaluating and selecting software and digital resources, ensuring their integration aligns with division policies, complies with state and federal laws, and upholds data privacy standards. 
  • Professional Learning and Technical Support: Engage in continuous professional learning, reflect on and evaluate professional practices, and provide essential tech support within the scope of instructional enhancement, focusing on empowering educators and students to troubleshoot minor issues independently.
  • Curriculum Development and Integration: Design a curriculum incorporating the Digital Learning Integration and Computer Science Standards, ensuring it aligns with educational objectives and learning outcomes. 
  • Instructional Delivery and Assessment: Provide instruction to deliver and assess the curriculum, fostering an engaging and effective learner-centered environment that meets the defined standards. 
  • General Support & Collaborative Responsibilities: Support various school responsibilities and duties as assigned, maintaining flexibility and collaboration.
Additional Information

Minimum annual starting salary: $59,663 Bachelors, $62,527 Masters, $65,529 Doctoral.

Minimum Requirements

Must possess:

  • a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree 
  • a Virginia teaching license
  • a minimum of three years of classroom teaching experience 
  • Coaching and/or facilitating professional learning experience


Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently and 25 to 50 pounds occasionally, and may assist, move, or restrain students when required to intervene in student safety issues. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, lift, walk, stand, and hear.
