General Statement of Duties
Performs technical paraprofessional civil engineering and supervisory work in the field and in the office; does related work as required.
The position’s primary responsibilities are specific to the Construction Division and include performing project site inspections, reviewing construction plans and specifications, and maintaining the division’s SharePoint site and related records. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of GIS applications, Microsoft Office Suite, and the principles and practices of civil engineering. The position requires the ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications; perform technical engineering support work of moderate complexity; establish and maintain effective working relationships with engineers, contractors, and the public; and effectively plan, organize, and prioritize assigned work. Duties involve a combination of field and office responsibilities, including conducting inspections, documenting findings, and performing data entry and recordkeeping activities related to project oversight.
A criminal history record check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee.
May require a pre-employment physical examination and/or medical tests administered by Henrico County Employee Health Services, the components of which are based on and appropriate to the specific sensory and/or physical demands of the given position. May require possession of a valid Virginia Commercial driver's license, with endorsements and without restrictions.
Minimum Requirements
Two (2) year degree in a related engineering discipline, and three (3) years of related paraprofessional engineering experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
