General Statement of Duties

Responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in cybersecurity and related business and information technology fields that supports students’ academic growth, technical skill development, critical thinking, and career readiness. The teacher creates an engaging, inclusive, and safe learning environment while aligning instruction with Virginia Career and Technical Education (CTE) standards, industry expectations, curriculum frameworks, and school goals. This role includes planning and implementing hands-on instruction, assessing student progress, integrating work-based learning and credential opportunities, providing feedback, and collaborating with colleagues, families, business partners, and the community.

Essential Duties

Daily Essential Duties

Instruction & Planning

  • Develop and deliver daily lesson plans aligned with Virginia CTE competencies, state and district standards, and cybersecurity industry practices.
  • Provide instruction in cybersecurity, networking, information technology, digital safety, and related business and technology concepts.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies, lab activities, simulations, and project-based learning experiences to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Implement differentiated instruction, accommodations, and modifications to support all learners.
  • Integrate technology, cybersecurity tools, and innovative instructional practices to enhance student engagement and career readiness.
  • Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications and credential attainment opportunities aligned with Virginia CTE expectations.
  • Incorporate workplace readiness skills, ethical technology use, and career exploration into instruction.


Classroom & Lab Management

  • Establish and maintain clear expectations for behavior, digital citizenship, and safe technology use.
  • Create a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom and lab environment.
  • Manage classroom and computer lab routines to ensure safety, security, orderliness, and instructional time.
  • Maintain inventory, security, and appropriate use of instructional technology, software, devices, and equipment.


Assessment & Data Use

  • Design formative and summative assessments to measure student learning and technical skill attainment.
  • Analyze data to monitor progress, adjust instruction, and support student achievement and credential success.
  • Maintain documentation required for Virginia CTE reporting, credentialing, and program accountability.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and parents.


Communication & Collaboration

  • Communicate regularly and professionally with students, families, colleagues, and industry partners.
  • Participate in department meetings, team planning, advisory committees, and school initiatives.
  • Collaborate with special education staff, counselors, support personnel, and business/community partners as needed.
  • Support work-based learning, career development, student organizations, and experiential learning opportunities related to cybersecurity and information technology.


Professional Responsibilities

  • Attend work daily and fulfill all assigned responsibilities.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development related to cybersecurity, instructional practice, and Virginia CTE initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records, including grades, attendance, credential data, and required documentation.
  • Uphold all school and district policies, including professional, ethical, and cybersecurity standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Information

    This position is for the 2026–2027 school year, with a contractual start date of July 1, 2026.

    This position works 12 months, 260 assignment 

    Annual salary will be prorated based upon the work begin date

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must hold or be eligible for a valid Virginia license with an endorsement in Business 
  • Candidate with college degree and passing Business Praxis scores are encouraged to apply
  • Knowledge of instructional best practices, curriculum design, and adolescent development.
  • Strong skills in communication, collaboration, classroom management, and problem‑solving.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse learners and school community members.
  • Ability to integrate industry-recognized credential preparation and workplace readiness skills into instruction.
