General Statement of Duties

Plans, organizes and engages in paraprofessional and highly skilled technical work in support of agency management or programs; does related work as required.

Essential Duties
  • Performs routine office duties in connection with the assessment of business taxes, vehicle license fees and personal property taxes, real estate tax relief applications and vehicle personal property returns, and State income tax returns for the public; does related work as required.
  • The essential duties of the Business Tax Services Representative include:
  • Assists taxpayers in person, online, and through telephone with filing various returns;
  • Processes business tax and personal property returns; 
  • Researches and responds to inquiries regarding business and personal property tax accounts to determine appropriate assessment and compliance with relevant laws and procedures; 
  • Researches and responds to inquiries related to business taxes (business License, meals tax, hotel tax, rental tax); 
  • Researches and responds to inquiries related to business regulations; 
  • Reviews leased equipment filings; 
  • Coordinates with other agencies and localities to resolve customer issues;
  • Serves as a liaison with other departments concerning billing and payment matters;
  • Images and archives confidential documents; 
  • Follows required procedures and maintains all related and required records as assigned;
  • Opens, sorts, and distributes mail, correspondence, copies, or other material;
  • Performs related work as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Two (2) year degree in a relevant field, and three (3) years of related experience preferred; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
