General Statement of Duties
Performs highly responsible technical bookkeeping work in connection with the financial operation of General Services; does related work as required.
Henrico County General Services is hiring an Account Clerk Senior to manage the financial operations for keeping county buildings and facilities running. You will work independently and serve as the go-to resource for financial accuracy, compliance, and problem-solving across multiple funding sources and revenue streams.
What you'll do:
- Manage and reconcile financial transactions, accounts, and audits across departmental budgets and grant funding
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation using County and department systems
- Assist with budget preparation, tracking, and reporting - including compiling data and preparing financial summaries
- Track grant funding, monitor compliance requirements, and prepare documentation for audits and funding agencies
- Coordinate payroll and time reporting processes, including personnel forms and staffing documents
- Research and resolve financial discrepancies and recommend corrective actions
- Support procurement, billing, and revenue collection activities
- Provide guidance to staff on financial policies and procedures
- Serve as a team lead when needed, acting as a point of contact for the team

This position may be underfilled at the Account Clerk III level and based on the skills and experience of the selected candidate. Expected salary low to mid-range salary scale commensurate upon experience.

Minimum Requirements
Account Clerk Senior: High school diploma or GED with relevant coursework in bookkeeping or business preferred, and five (5) years of clerical or bookkeeping experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Account Clerk III: High school diploma or GED with relevant coursework in bookkeeping or business preferred, and four (4) years of clerical or bookkeeping experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
