General Statement of Duties
Works with educators and families at multiple schools, including itinerant travel during the work day, to promote access to education, safety, and wellness in the least restrictive environment using knowledge of the principles and practices of physical therapy. Provides direct therapy services to eligible students with gross motor deficits, and support implementing assistive technology for positioning, seating, and mobility - at times in collaboration with medical providers.
- Assists in identifying student needs for evaluation, consultation, and/or direct service
- Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of Individualized Education Programs, Section 504 Plans, and Services Plans when appropriate
- Collects and analyzes data to inform as to student needs and student progress
- Writes evaluation reports and determines educational implications of evaluation findings
- Screens or evaluates children on referral from child study committee
- Presents written and oral reports to the selected team
- Works collaboratively as part of a team
- Consults with school, community, and service-related personnel in provision of services
- Consults with parents on home programming
- Adapts, adjusts, repairs and inventories equipment
- Provides supplies and equipment ideas to be requisitioned
- Documents attendance and daily therapy programming
- Participates in division Medicaid documentation program
- Assists in transitioning special education therapy students from one educational program to another or from one school to another
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Regular attendance is required
This position works 10 months / 209 days per year.
Annual salary will be prorated based upon actual work begin date.

Minimum Requirements
Must hold a valid physical therapist license issued by the Virginia Board of Physical Therapy. Prior experience providing therapy services in a pediatric or public school setting is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds frequently and 25 to 50 pounds occasionally, and may assist, move, or restrain students when required to intervene in student safety issues. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, lift, walk, stand, and hear.
