General Statement of Duties
The employee in this classification exhibits a professional demeanor while performing responsibilities defined by the supervisor. The supervisor defines the objectives, priorities and deadlines of work, but the employee plans and carries out successive steps and resolves problems independently. The employee uses judgment in interpreting and adapting guidelines to specific cases or problems. Work is performed under general supervision.
• Types letters, reports, documents and a variety of material from rough draft, clear copy, and shorthand or notes, using word processing equipment; material may sometimes be of a confidential nature.
• Schedules appointments for interviews, meetings, etc.
• Greets callers and visitors, directs them to the proper source and answers questions; sometimes deals with difficult situations
• Opens, sorts, distributes mail, correspondence, copies or other materials
• Prepares bank deposits from funds collected; balances books backup
• Prepares typing, paste-ups, drawings for publications and/or press releases for radio and television
• Proofreads figures, forms, letters and/or reports for accuracy
• Prepares time and attendance cards and payroll data; may keep personnel records
• Daily use of school systems; Powerschool (student records) and Oracle (employee records)
• Completes financial interviews, sets client fees, and prepares payment sheets
• Performs data processing tasks (student enrollment/registration, withdrawals, schedule changes and reports)
• Attends work daily - Regular attendance is required
• Is engaged and on task
• Performs related work as assigned
• Considerable knowledge of spelling and punctuation, English grammar, arithmetic, telephone usage, use of dictionary;
• Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment;
• Skill in typing, ability to understand and communicate the policies, procedures and services of the department, division, or program; ability to keep moderately complex records;
• Ability to make computations with speed and accuracy;
• Research files, proofread, write legibly, follow directions, read and organize information
• Knowledge of school systems (Powerschool and Oracle)

This position is open until filled. This is a 12-month position working in the front office of Ward Elementary School for the 2026-27 school year beginning on 7/1/26. Minimum salary is 44,314.67 (21.31 hourly) or based on the promotion policy for internal candidates. Salary will be prorated based on official start date.

Minimum Requirements
A high school graduate or equivalent (business school or some college preferred) or any equivalent combination of experience and training which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities; Leadership qualities and communication skills are necessary. Ability to use computers in a broad range of applications such as but not limited to the following: Word Processing; Spreadsheet Data Entry and Spreadsheet Design; Database Maintenance; and Internet Search Engines.
