General Statement of Duties
Skilled knowledge of the operating, maintenance and repair functions of a large kitchen operation. Skilled knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Demonstrates a basic knowledge of methods, tools and materials used in the area of assignment. The position requires performance of routine installation, preventive maintenance and repair tasks both independently and with minimum supervision. Ability to follow oral and written directions, keep records, work well with others and occasionally supervise the performance of others. When assigned responsibility, must be available to respond to emergency calls outside of work hours
• Maintains all types of kitchen equipment
• Analyzes and corrects faulty operation to equipment malfunctions
• Inspects and tests electrical circuits and connections to determine causes of faulty operation of equipment
• Assists in oversight of the equipment needs of 70 school kitchens
• Coordinates and oversees the installation of equipment in designated school kitchens
• Able to work independently and is a self-starter
• Works closely with construction contractors on kitchen renovations
• Attends pre-bid meetings as required
• Evaluates/recommends non-working equipment for surplus
• Provides knowledge and expertise on equipment purchases
• Provides equipment training to all staff as needed
• Self-audits safety practices, and assists in supervision of staff in safety awareness and procedures
• Rotates the monitoring of refrigeration and freezers on weekends
• Replaces belts, fans, etc. as needed
• Assists/ repairs equipment or recommends further action by an approved contractor
• Performs or assists in preventative maintenance on equipment
• Performs recording keeping, invoice review, etc. for submission to Accounts Payable
• Assists or Schedules/performs equipment inspections of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems
• Orders or obtains supplies/parts as needed
• Attends work daily and is engaged in job responsibilities
• Performs overtime work on scheduled, unscheduled, routine or emergency basis, as assigned
• Performs other duties as required
This is a 12month/260-day position. Annual salary will be prorated based upon actual work begin date.

Minimum Requirements
Graduation from high school or trade school and training in related fields such as electricity, controls, refrigeration kitchen equipment, etc. or any equivalent of experience and training would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. VA State certification preferred in Electrical, HVAC or Kitchen Equipment. A minimum five years’ experience with commercial kitchen equipment preferred. Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Virginia.
