General Statement of Duties
The teaching position provides daily instruction and hands-on learning experiences for high school students enrolled at the Highland Springs ACE Technical Center who are interested in pursuing careers in early childhood education. In addition to classroom instruction, the position is responsible for the ongoing management and operation of the Springer Preschool Academy. The Springer Preschool Academy is a full-day preschool laboratory program operated in partnership with the Early Childhood Education program at the ACE Center, providing students with authentic, real-world experience in an early childhood educational setting. Through the integration of classroom instruction and practical application, the program equips students with the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies needed for success in postsecondary education and careers in early childhood education.
Instruction & Planning
- Develop and deliver daily lesson plans aligned with state and district standards.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Implement differentiated instruction, accommodations, and modifications to support all learners.
- Integrate technology and innovative practices into teaching to enhance student engagement.
Classroom Management
- Establish and maintain clear expectations for behavior and learning.
- Create a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Manage classroom routines to ensure safety, orderliness, and instructional time
Assessment & Data Use
- Design formative and summative assessments to measure student learning.
- Analyze data to monitor progress, adjust instruction, and support student achievement.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and parents.
Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate regularly and professionally with students, families, and colleagues.
- Participate in department meetings, team planning, and school initiatives.
- Collaborate with special education staff, counselors, and support personnel as needed.
Career & Technical Education Duties and Expectations
- Plans, delivers, and assesses instruction using a competency‑based education model.
- Participates in ongoing professional development to maintain current knowledge of curriculum, instructional practices, and industry trends.
- Maintains a working knowledge of current industry safety standards and ensures their incorporation into instruction.
- Supports and promotes student participation in internships and apprenticeships with local employers.
Professional Responsibilities
- Attend work daily and fulfill all assigned responsibilities.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to refine instructional practice.
- Maintain accurate records, including grades, attendance, and required documentation.
- Uphold all school and district policies, including professional and ethical standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- This is a 11-month (239-day) position with a contractual start date of July 30, 2026.
- Salary will be prorated based on the official start date.
- Candidates selected for interviews will be contacted by the school program.

Minimum Requirements
- Candidates must currently hold or be eligible for a Family and Consumer Science professional teaching license or technical professional license.
- Applicants with a Bachelor's degree, relevant college course work and passing Praxis test scores will be considered.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently and 25 to 50 pounds occasionally, and may assist, move, or restrain students when required to intervene in student safety issues. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, lift, walk, stand, and hear.
