General Statement of Duties
Work in this classification generally includes activities such as skilled typing, screening calls and visitors, scheduling appointments, organization and daily maintenance of a comprehensive filing system, and operation of office equipment. The incumbent must demonstrate initiative in all work and be able to make independent judgments in accordance with established practices and guidelines. May deal with sensitive or confidential materials and is responsible to the administrator to whom assigned
• Accurate, skillful typing
• Knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and current rules of composition
• Mathematical skills through the use of a calculator
• Ability to proficiently read, spell, and proofread sometimes complex material
• Ability to file through alphabetical, numerical, and chronological systems
• Ability to maintain records, organize, and effectively use the telephone
• Ability to understand and efficiently follow and carry out directions
• Ability to interpret written material and effectively communicate verbally
• Knowledge necessary to compose and prepare effective correspondence
• Ability to write legibly
• Ability to schedule and coordinate meetings and conferences
• Ability to accurately verify data
• Ability to learn the policies, procedures, and services provided by the administrator to whom assigned

• Answers telephone and screens calls
• Greets visitors and screens appointments
• Records all appointments and maintains records of daily activities
• Types forms, letters, and reports from rough draft, or clean copy, using a typewriter or word processing equipment
• Makes sure office runs smoothly and supervises work of hourly person
• Requisitions office supplies and instructional materials and maintains inventory of same
• Receives, sorts and distributes mail
• Operates office equipment
• Sets up and maintains files alphabetically
• Completes travel expense vouchers
• Processes payroll
• Orders textbooks and maintains inventory
• Attends work daily and is engaged and on task - regular attendance is required
• Performs other duties as assigned
This vacancy is open until filled and is available for the 26-27SY working for the department of Staff Development. This is a 12 month, 8 hours per day, 260-day position. Minimum salary is $44,314.67 ($21.31 hourly) or based on promotion policy for internal candidates. Salary is prorated based on official start date. Work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Minimum Requirements
A high school graduate or equivalent (business school or some college preferred). Leadership qualities and communication skills are necessary. Ability to use computers in a broad range of applications such as but not limited to the following: Word Processing; Spreadsheet Data Entry and Spreadsheet Design; Database Maintenance; and Internet Search Engines.
Should be able to deal effectively with the public.
